Seasoned Spokes

Seasoned Spokes riders generally range in age from 55 to 80+ years of age.

The rides start the first Thursday in April and end the Thursday before Thanksgiving.  The start time for the rides is 9:00 a.m., with the exception of July and August when the start time is 8:00 a.m.

We ask everyone to arrive at the ride location 15 minutes ahead of the start time.  Bike riders must wear a helmet, have a water bottle on his/her bike, make sure the bike in good working order, carry a spare inner tube, and riders are not allowed to use head phones and must obey the rules of the road as if they were in a vehicle.

The riders need to be able to ride 17 miles with a pace of 10 - 12 mph.  The average length of the rides is between 20 and 27 miles with a few rides at 17-18 miles.

There is a ride leader and a sweep with stops to reorganize every 5 to 7 miles, depending on the terrain.

After each ride, the group has lunch at a restaurant chosen by the ride leader.  Each individual having lunch is responsible for his/her own lunch bill.

Any questions, please contact Karen Gottschall, the coordinator of the Seasoned Spokes.  Her e-mail address is gottschallk@diakon.org and her phone number is (610) 682-1542.

Please note the Club policy on protective headgear:
ALL Riders must wear Snell/ANSI rated helmets.  Ride Host/Hostess will NOT give cue sheets to riders without helmets and that rider will not be considered an official participant of the club ride.

If weather is questionable, as in too hot, cold, wet, etc., call the ride host/hostess for a go or no-go decision.
